Internet Spanish Language Courses Online

Free Spanish classes allow non-Spanish speaking citizens learn about the fastest-spreading language in the North American continent. Learn to speak the language of Spain and its New World legacy cultures is a tool which lets you get ahead in the business world, along with numerous other profession. The classes I discuss below include free online college courses for teaching Spanish to non-speakers, courses in business and finance for those fluent in Spanish speaking, and courses which introduce you to the culture of Spain and all those Latin American countries which once were part of the vaunted Spanish Empire.

Spanish I assumes no previous understanding of the Spanish language. Instruction is in Spanish where feasible, though English is used for clarification in teaching. The main teaching tool of this course is 26 separate half-hour videos of Destinos, which tells interesting stories complete with emotional episodes and plot development.

Spanish II continues the oddball MIT instruction of Spanish through listening to Destinos II, a continuation of the Spanish language soap opera you learned to love in the first semester of Spanish class. You'll also use online tools and reading selections to learn the language of Spain and its legacy nations.

Spanish III goes beyond the first two courses in teaching the cultural heritage of Spain and its colonies, while students hand in written essays in the Spanish language.

Spanish IV goes even further, familiarizing students with not just the language, but also the literature and culture of Spain, Latin America, and the various Latin American communities in the United States.

Kutztown University Spanish Courses

Kutztown University has a large collection of free online Spanish classes. When I say Spanish courses, I mean real coursework taught fully in Spanish. I've linked to the list of 24 studies, including business classes, finance, public relations, business, and web courses.

California Irvine Spanish Course

Along the same lines, you can take a free online Spanish course in finance from the University of California at Irvine. Note that this entire course is presented and taught in Spanish, so if you aren't fluent in the language, do not sign up. If you're more comfortable reading Spanish better than English and you want to learn about finance, this is the free online college class for you.

Free Spanish Culture Classes

Along with your mastery of the Spanish language, you might want to immerse yourself in studies of the culture of the Spanish speaking nations. You'll find a number of options for studying the cultural evolution of Spain's former colonies, along with the society of Spain itself.

Introduction to Latin American Studies gives you access to the literary, film, and scholarly currents of several Latin American countries. Particular focus is placed on Mexico and Chile, while Portuguese speaking Brazil is also covered. Social issues, ethnic and race concerns, and religion are also discussed in depth.

Oral Communication in Spain focuses on film making throughout the former Spanish colonies. You'll be exposed to Spanish Pantaleon y las visitadoras, a Peruvian film about the kidnapping of Colombian activist Ingrid Betancourt, the Columbian picture La virgen de los sicarios, and the Spanish film Sin noticias de Dios, which stars Penelope Cruz.
